The opening ceremony is the most festive and the largest evening event of the festival. The attendance is very high every year. It starts with a gathering of all the teams in Tito Square, about 1 hour before the official start.
The official program enclude singing and dance performances and a speech by the Mayor of Koper. From Tito Square, participants then walk down the Čevljarska street and Pristaniška street to the central playground on Ukmar Square. During the walk, each team presents itself, either with the biggest flag, with the mascot, with the best performace, …
Upon arrival at the central playground it beginns a party with DJ. There are even the announcements of the winners for the best performance and the biggest flag with awarding.
